He says he misses you.

Then you do not hear from him for a week.

At some point, stop trying to make that make sense.

People are busy. Work gets hectic. Life happens. But when somebody genuinely wants to keep a connection going, you usually know because they actually keep it going.

The problem starts when you spend more time explaining his behaviour than he spends talking to you.

“He’s probably stressed.”

“He’s got a lot going on.”

“He’s not good at texting.”

Fine. But what is he actually doing?

If weeks are passing and you are still wondering whether he likes you, that uncertainty is information too.

Do not chase somebody into showing interest.

And do not keep your evenings free just in case he suddenly appears at 9pm asking what you are doing. If he disappeared for six days, you are allowed to already have plans on day seven.

This is not about playing hard to get.

It is about having a life.

Watch whether he makes plans and actually turns up. Notice whether contact only happens when it suits him. Pay attention if every lovely message is followed by another disappearance.

You do not need to argue with him about it either. If the pattern does not work for you, say so.

“I like you, but this on-and-off communication isn’t for me.”

Then watch what happens.

If nothing changes, there is your answer.

A man can say “I miss you” ten times.

At some point, he also needs to behave like he does.
